This project was about creating a new brand identity for the Ghent Light Festival entirely through animation. The goal was to imagine how a festival identity could exist in motion rather than as static visuals.
The main challenge was defining what “light” could mean as a moving concept and then turning it into a consistent identity. Light can take many forms, which made it difficult to narrow down an idea that felt strong and recognizable. To solve this, I worked with graphical elements that could stay consistent across animations while still capturing energy and movement.
In the end, I developed a system using gradient colors and heat effects to create the sense of glowing, shifting light. The result was an animated identity that feels dynamic, immersive, and true to the atmosphere of the festival.
